In a significant and heartfelt collaboration, the Little Shell Tribal Council and the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History have facilitated the repatriation of the remains of a Little Shell child. Today, the Tribe welcomes this young ancestor back to their homeland, planning a traditional reburial ceremony to ensure the child is respectfully laid to rest. Although the occasion is somber, it brings a profound sense of gratitude as the Tribal Council honors the child’s spirit through this sacred tradition.

The Little Shell Tribe invites its members to participate in ceremonies and visit with the child at the Little Shell Tribal Elder Center, located at 1529 Stuckey Road, Great Falls, MT. The visitation and ceremonies will be held from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The reburial ceremony will take place at the First People Buffalo Jump State Park, located at 342 Ulm-Vaughn Road, Ulm, MT 59485. Attendees are requested to meet at the visitor center by 1:30 pm for an escort to the burial site.
